Why REST + JSON is better than SOAP

Goodbye SOAP – Welcome JSON REST

Representational State Transfer (REST) is a software architectural style for distributed hypermedia systems like the world wide web.

Simple Object Access Protocol . SOAP is an XML-based messaging protocol. It defines a set of rules for structuring messages that can be used for simple one-way messaging but is particularly useful for performing RPC-style (Remote Procedure Call) request-response dialogues.

Let us look at  Why REST + JSON is a good choice over SOAP?

The IPcalypse is only 100 days away

We've all known it's been coming for a long time now, there's even a new, alternative IP addressing scheme that's been developed and implemented -- IPv6 -- but adoption has been slow, and now, things are about to heat up, as the time remaining before the estimated 166,741,530 remaining addresses...

10 Celebrities Who Weren’t Too Sexy For Sesame Street

Sesame Street has decided not to air Katy Perry’s guest appearance, even though the clip is already online, because of reported concerns about showing her cleavage to small children.

In the interest of precedent, we’ve done some extensive research (3 minutes of Googling, 3 days in the Brooklyn Library’s microfiche room) and compiled this list of 10 other female celebrities who were deemed not too sexy for Sesame Street’s many sets of toddler-eyes. Note the distinct lack of cleavage in every instance, proving that indeed, it was Ms. Perry’s mammaries that did her in. (“Shame on you women for having those!” – David Cross)

1. Natalie Portman

2. Jessica Alba

3. Christina Applegate

4. Julia Roberts (’88)

5. Eva Longoria Parker

6. Cameron Diaz

7. Alicia Keys

8. Madeline Kahn (’81)

9. Heidi Klum

10. Carrie Underwood (as Carrie Underworm)

Pumpkin Pie increases Male Sex Drive

Dr. Alan Hirsch, Director of Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Center, says the key to a man's heart, and other parts, is pumpkin pie. Out of the 40 odors tested in Hirsch's study, a mixture of lavender and pumpkin pie got the biggest rise out of men ages 18 to 64. That particular fragrance was found to increase penile blood flow by an average of 40%. "Maybe the odors acted to reduce anxiety. By reducing anxiety, it acted to remove inhibitions," said Hirsch.

PS3 gets Titanium Blue makeover for Gran Turismo 5 launch bundle

Shock of all horrors, Gran Turismo 5 will actually, finally launch in Japan and Europe on November 3. Of course, being more concerned with hardware as we are, our excitement is focused on the rich blue hue that will adorn PS3 consoles bundled with the grandiosely delayed racing game over in Nippon this fall. The ¥35,980 ($421) Gran Turismo 5 Racing Pack will be composed of a Limited Edition copy of the game plus a repainted skinny PlayStation 3 with a 160GB hard drive. Time to give your old importer buddy a call, eh?

47 Years Ago Yesterday

47 Years Ago Yesterday, C. S. Lewis collapsed and died at 5:30 PM (GMT) at his residence at The Kilns, outside Oxford, England. Two hours later, U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX, pronounced dead at 1:21 PM (CST). Exactly six hours later, Aldous Huxley, the English writer and author of Brave New World, died at 5:21 PM (PST) in Los Angeles.

Lego Church

This came across my desk & is worth sharing:

'THE LEGO CHURCH'
This is amazing!  Someone certainly is talented and patient
to create such a masterpiece
.
A few quick facts:
How long to build it?

It was about a year and a half of planning, building and
photographing.

How many pieces of LEGO to build it?
M
ore than 75,000?

How big is it?
About 7 feet by 5 1/2 feet by 30 inches
(2.2 m x 1.7 m x .76 m)

How many LEGO people does it seat?
1,372

How many windows?

3,976?

It features a balcony, a Narthex, stairs to the balcony,

restrooms, coat rooms, several mosaics, a nave, a baptistery,

an altar, a crucifix, a pulpit and an elaborate pipe organ.

All I can say is
....'WOW!'

Have a blessed and wonderful day, today and everyday!
Please remember to dress for any occasion.......wear a happy smile on your face.  Others will smile with you.

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides,
flooding, severe thunderstorms, tearing up the country from
one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist
attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the
schools & other public places ???

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching
over us...go ahead and delete this.

For the rest of us.....pass this on.

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
Proverbs 29:11

Are daily showers a thing of the past

Are daily showers a thing of the past?

Over the weekend,
The N
ew York Times published a story about a trend that has many of us scratching our heads (literally): Showering infrequently—three times or fewer a week—is growing in popularity, not just among the hippie-granola sets, but for mainstream professionals as well. High-powered workers like Jenefer Palmer of Malibu, California, chief executive for the Osea skincare line, told the paper that only does she regularly skip bathing, she also avoids using deodorant while both traveling and meeting clients in high-powered meetings. Phew.

16 False Hopes that Will Send Many to Hell

by Kevin Williams

The Bible warns that there are many false converts who are holding onto a false hope (Matt 7. 13-15) and so here is a list of false religious hopes that can send people to Hell. As you read them “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith.” (2 Cor. 13:5) and make sure you are not trusting in a false hope. Your eternity is at stake.

1. Being Born into a Christian Family.
2. Being Baptized and Joining the Church.
3. Having an Intellectual Understanding of the Gospel / Believing Biblical Doctrine
4. Being a Pastor, or Serving in a Church or Doing Evangelism
5. Moral Reformation
6. Having an Emotional Experience, Whether Joy or Conviction
7. Being Healed
8. Seeing a Supernatural Vision/or Having an Angelic Encounter
9. Being Blessed with Material Things/Riches/Money
10. Keeping the Law / Legalism (Trusting in Works)
11. Listening To Hard Radical Preaching
12. Having Answers to Your Prayers
13. Having “Religious Views: Christian” on your Facebook, or Similar
14. Praying a ‘sinners prayer’ or Similar, ‘accepting Jesus’, ‘made a decision for Jesus’ or walking an aisle
15. A Pastor told me I am saved or ‘welcome to the family of God’
16. Having a ‘Spiritual Gift’ like Tongues or Prophecy

Read the explanation for each false hope here.

Google Has A Secret Fleet Of Automated Toyota Priuses

Google has developed a technology for cars to drive themselves. And they haven’t done it on a computer, or in some controlled lab, they’ve been out on California roads testing this out. “Our automated cars, manned by trained operators, just drove from our Mountain View campus to our Santa Monica office and on to Hollywood Boulevard. They’ve driven down Lombard Street, crossed the Golden Gate bridge, navigated the Pacific Coast Highway, and even made it all the way around Lake Tahoe. All in all, our self-driving cars have logged over 140,000 miles. We think this is a first in robotics research,” Google engineer Sebastian Thrun (the brainchild of the project who also heads the Stanford AI lab and co-invented Street View as well) writes.

Google notes that 1.2 million people are killed every year in road accidents — they think they can cut this number in half with the tech. It will also cut energy consumption and save people a lot of time.

But don’t get too excited just yet. “Even the most optimistic predictions put the deployment of the technology more than eight years away,” according to NYT.

Start at the finish line

In finding God we have now begun the search in earnest. And in finding a wife and marrying her, the pursuit has now begun in earnest—the pursuit of her heart, of a deep and intimate knowledge of her, the pursuit of joy with her and in her, the pursuit of one who loves so much, so deeply, that he can barely stand notto know.

In either case, the finish line is really just the starting line.
